What is Azure Virtual Desktop?
Azure Virtual Desktop (AVD) is a cloud service for virtualising desktops and applications, enabling users to work in virtual Windows 10 environments. In other words, Windows 10 and all applications run on a Microsoft server, enabling users to work with them virtually. This also allows multiple identical sessions to be set up quickly, depending on the needs of the user(s) and/or teams.
Azure Virtual Desktop is therefore similar to RDS (Windows Remote Desktop Services), but with AVD, management is in Azure and each user is given a fully fledged Windows 10 desktop.
ACCESS THE WINDOWS 10 DESKTOP AND APPLICATIONS FROM ANYWHERE, ON ANY DEVICE
Regardless of device type (Windows, Mac, iOS, Android or any other device with an HTML5 web client), you can use your own device (BYOD) to set up a remote connection to your Enterprise experience with Azure Virtual Desktop. IT staff can choose which Azure VM meets their team’s needs and leverage the benefit of Windows 10 multisession that only Azure offers. With Windows 10 multisession, you can easily run interactive sessions with multiple simultaneous users using the same deployment, providing cost savings.
LEVERAGE THE SEAMLESS MICROSOFT TEAMS AND MICROSOFT OFFICE EXPERIENCE
With RDS, many of your customers are not experiencing proper Microsoft 365 support. For example, the OneDrive client is not supported on Windows Servers and there are Exchange Online & Outlook cache issues. With Azure Virtual Desktop these issues are solved. Offer employees the same experience as a local desktop or laptop, whether you manage your Inbox with Outlook, share files in OneDrive or collaborate with colleagues through Microsoft Teams meetings.
REDUCE COSTSWith AVD, customers only need one license, also large investments in new hardware are no longer necessary. Through a monthly payment model, your customers are provided with the latest hardware. All remoted desktop infrastructure components (hosting, installing, configuring and managing) are no longer needed. This translates to no on-premises investment costs. In addition, multiple users can be on one infrastructure which helps optimize scalability and is cost-effective, as you only pay for what you actually use.
